Reading God’s Word part 2

As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby. (1 Peter 2:2 KJV)

Become familiar with its precepts, and you will have a standard by which you can measure all things.
Growing in faith. Faith comes by hearing and receiving the Word of God. To grow in our faith and become mature Christians, we need to read and believe God’s Word. As you read and study God’s Word with an open mind and receptive heart, your understanding and faith will grow.
Living in His joy. Lasting joy comes from following Jesus’ loving example and His commandments, and you learn how to do that from His Word. Jesus said, “If you keep My commandments, you will abide in My love. … These things I have spoken to you, that My joy may remain in you, and that your joy may be full.”
Contentment and peace of mind. By studying God’s Word, you will come to understand His loving ways. This will give you faith that whatever your circumstances may be, He is with you and has your best interests at heart. “Now acquaint yourself with Him, and be at peace; thereby good will come to you.” (Job 22:21) —Shannon Shayler [1]

Knowledge of the Bible never comes by intuition. It can only be obtained by diligent, regular, daily, attentive reading. — J.C. Ryle
