The Fullness of God

 And to know the love of Christ that surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled with all the fullness of God. (Ephesians 3:19 ESV)

 Trying to describe God can be a challenging prospect. There are so many sides to His personality, and He’s so much greater and more profound than we’ll ever be able to grasp. Besides, each of us is at a different stage in our personal growth, and our relationship with God changes over the years.

 For instance, my two-year-old daughter seems to know God as a friendly gentleman with a long white beard who keeps an eye on things from behind some clouds. Jesus usually shows up in her books as a baby in a manger or a shepherd counting sheep.

 It’s fine that children relate to God in simple ways. Still, I’m looking forward to see her growing in maturity to the point that she can experience many more of God’s attributes, such as His wisdom, His power to heal, His comfort, His help in time of trouble, and so on.

 Although none of us can ever fully understand God, we can find clues in His Word to help us get to know Him better. Most importantly, the Bible tells us that God loves each of us fervently, even though He knows all the wrong stuff we’ve done. His love is permanent, unconditional, and complete. —Ronan Keane [1]
